In March, I travelled to Zimbabwe and Botswana, as part of a delegation of Canadian MPs to learn about work being done in the region and visit some of the various development programs underway.
It was well outside the capital of Botswana where a young man with a great beard introduced himself to me as resident of Barrhaven.
Alex Mackey and his brother Connor are both working with Stepping Stones International, helping to empower orphaned and vulnerable youth.
Connor is currently a student at the University of Ottawa in the international development program and is volunteering with the organization as an intern.
Alex is a graduate of the same program at U of O and is now putting his passions and skills to use, working with Stepping Stones International and helping development in Sub-Saharan Africa.
